Espeletia, also known as Frailejon, is a plant found in northern South America and plays a crucial role as the first water condenser between the clouds and the ground, in paramo and subparamo areas. However, its presence is at risk due to the increase of mining and different agricultural and cattle ranching projects in these regions. In this work, images of the plant are revealed through artificial intelligence and transformed into “botanical illustrations in the style of Alexander von Humboldt”.

Through silkscreen printing, the aim is to give the focus back to the artist by showing that artificial intelligence is one of his tools and not a creative entity.

With this printing technique, where the almost digital perfection of the machine is sought, but through the hand of the artist, giving way to the error of the human hand.
