Calentura Berlin
Calentura is a berlin-based collective focused on music and dance as a cultural practice & the latin music universe
Calentura Berlin is a collective founded in the spring of 2020 to organize music and dance events in public spaces. Our goal is to establish our Latin American roots in the Berlin cultural scene, promote exchanges with the local music scene, and create new perspectives for cultural experiences. A central aspect that defines us is the idea of music as a means of fostering social cohesion and as a driver for transformation processes.
With our focus on Latin American rhythms and beats, we strengthen the alternative Latin American scene in Berlin. We also promote new genres such as Guaracha, Latinclub, Techno-Perreo, and Latincore, and work closely with Berlin-based netlabels like NoFuture, which provide musicians from Latin America or with Latin American backgrounds with international platforms.

In recent years, we have increasingly focused on local and international collaborations with collectives and labels such as Nalgotikeo (Bogotá), Felina (Madrid), Trampa, Nave del Olvido, La Regla, Fania Brava, and NoFuture (Berlin). This collaboration keeps the scene dynamic and creates community spaces that overcome competition. Collaboration is a tool for us to create new connections and foster community.
Our events bring together Latin American and non-Latin American audiences through a diverse program ranging from live acts to electronic sounds. This, along with bilingual communication in Spanish and English, contributes to the diversification of Berlin's club culture and promotes long-term relationships within the cultural scene.
Our passion for music and dance drives us to continue organizing events. The positive feedback from our community and being awarded the Club Culture Day Prize last year motivate us to keep going. This recognition has also been financially significant, as rising rental prices make event organization increasingly expensive. Collaborations are an essential resource for us to realize alternative events despite economic pressures.
A significant change in the last year was the reduction of our collective. Three members stepped back to focus on their personal projects, leaving the door open for future returns. Despite the smaller number of members, we see this as an opportunity to work more focused and efficiently.
Our community continues to grow, and we constantly find motivated individuals to support us at events. Many of our helpers come from migrant backgrounds, finding not only a way to engage but also small income sources in areas such as awareness, entry, and security.
